At Regency Park Primary School, the wellbeing of our students is a central focus and is embedded in all aspects of school life. We believe students learn best when they feel safe, connected and valued. Our approach is proactive, inclusive and designed to develop each child’s social, emotional, physical and academic growth.
We equip students with the skills they need to become positive and productive members of their community. This is achieved through explicit teaching, whole-school programs and nurturing relationships between students, staff and families.
Our wellbeing practices are guided by evidence-based programs and Department of Education priorities, with a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, respectful relationships and student voice. Every student is supported in their development, and teachers thoughtfully group students to build connection and a sense of belonging.
A key part of our program is Play is the Way, an embedded program at Regency Park for over a decade. Students participate in two 20-minute sessions each week, focusing on cooperation, resilience, empathy and critical thinking. The program is built around five guiding concepts: treat others as you would like them to treat you, be brave and participate to progress, pursue your personal best, have reasons for your actions, and remember that it takes strength to be sensible. These sessions help students develop self-awareness, teamwork and emotional regulation skills through play.
We also use Peer Support and Peer Mediation to build confidence, encourage respectful communication and develop problem-solving skills. Leadership opportunities are highly valued, with senior students taking on roles such as School Captains, House Captains and members of the Student Voice Team, as well as mentoring younger students.
By working closely with families and the wider community, we create a supportive environment where all students can thrive. Our school motto, ‘Every Child, Every Opportunity’, reflects our belief that with the right support, every student can succeed.
