Physical Education

At Regency Park Primary School, we believe that physical activity is essential for the health, confidence, and wellbeing of every child. Our Physical Education program is a carefully sequenced seven-year journey that begins in Foundation and continues through to Year 6, ensuring students build strong skills, develop resilience, and experience the joy of movement.

In the early years there is a strong focus on the introduction and development of fundamental movement skills. Students participate in a wide range of activities both individually and with peers to become proficient in skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, running, jumping, bouncing, and striking.

As students’ progress through the program, greater emphasis is placed on the performance of sport specific skills and the application of movement concepts and strategies in games. Fundamental skills are refined and combined to meet the demands of more complex tasks, while students also learn strategies such as attacking and defending to support team success.

Our program is enriched by whole school activities including House Cross Country, Athletics, the Perceptual Motor Program, before school running club, lunchtime training sessions, and weekly sport for Years 3 to 6. Students also have the opportunity to represent our school at interschool competitions in:

  • Swimming
  • Cross Country
  • Athletics
  • Winter and Summer Interschool Sports
  • Rugby League Gala Day
  • Girls AFL Division Day
  • Boys Regional Netball Day

Through participation in games and activities students learn to demonstrate positive behaviours including cooperation, inclusion, fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Many of our students have gone on to achieve outstanding results at a range of competition levels across a wide variety of sports. We are equally proud of the recognition they receive for their positive attitude, respectful approach to competition, and commitment to representing the Regency Park community with pride.
