We are wrapping up Term 3 with a series of wonderful celebrations. Term 3 is always a jam packed one, filled with lots of learning and special events across the school.
To celebrate the many wonderful experiences our students have enjoyed, we have included some highlights from each year level and our specialist classes. It has been a busy and rewarding term, and we hope you enjoy seeing some of the learning, achievements and special moments that have made Term 3 memorable.
Disco
The highlight was undoubtedly the disco where Regency Park certainly showed that it knows how to bust a move! We had over 444 students dance the night away. The funds raised from this event will go directly toward our fundraising efforts to revitalise our basketball courts.

Father’s Day Stall
Now that we’ve celebrated Father’s Day, we hope all the fathers, stepdads, grandparents and special friends enjoyed their handpicked treats from our Father’s Day Stall. Each gift was chosen with love and care, and we hope they brought a little extra joy to the special people in our children’s lives.
A special thank you to Kim for all her organisation in bringing this event together, and to all the wonderful volunteers who helped with the smooth running of the stall. Your time and support are greatly appreciated.
Grandparents Day
Our Year 1 and 2 students were beaming with excitement and enthusiasm this week as we welcomed their grandparents and special friends for a fun afternoon together. Our special guests were treated to lively performances before spending the afternoon enjoying time together in the classroom. It was wonderful to see the pride and joy on our students’ faces as they shared their learning and their school with such important people in their lives.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We know that some of you travelled a fair distance to be here, and we appreciate you taking the time to share this special afternoon with us.

Celebrating Excellence

What a busy and fun Term Three we have had in Prep! Students have continued to grow, play and learn and it has been wonderful to see them enjoying all the activities this term had to offer!
Our reading and writing skills have continued to develop through our Phonics program! We have learnt about double consonants and have begun exploring digraphs- when two letters make one sound- such as ‘sh’, ‘ch’ and ‘ck’. In Reading we have started to build our inferring skills by using our prior knowledge and clues from the text to guess how the character was feeling or what they were doing.
In Writing we learnt all about character description and how we can add detail to our work to make it more interesting. We even learnt about different parts of speech, including nouns, verbs and adjectives.
In Maths we explored Australian money, capacity, graphing and sharing! We worked hard on further developing our knowledge of teen numbers and learnt about how numbers are made up of tens and ones.
We learnt all about Sustainability during the first half of the term. This Inquiry unit taught us all about reducing, reusing and recycling, and things we can do to make our planet more sustainable. In the second half of the term, we learnt all about how things have changed over time. We played games such as marbles and hopscotch, explored old and new ways of communicating and got to see some old toys during our Toy Incursion.
We had a terrific time celebrating many things this term, including NAIDOC week, Book Week, Regency’s Got Talent, Father’s Day and Footy Day! However, the most exciting event of the term for us was 100 DAYS OF PREP! We had an amazing day celebrating together- making cookies, creating crowns, showing off our dance moves and eating hot chips for lunch! There were some awesome t-shirts created for the special day and we all had such fun celebrating all the things we have learnt in our first 100 days of school!
We are so proud of how the Preps are continuing to thrive at school and can’t wait to see all they will achieve in their final term of 2026!
Year 1
Term 3 was action packed!
Year Ones attended swimming lessons at Knox Leisureworks and represented our school in a respectful and cooperative way each day.
Book Week was celebrated by dressing up as a favourite book character. What a fantastic celebration to have after we all successfully participated in the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge!
Year Ones then attended Ambleside Historic Homestead to learn about what Knox was like in the olden days. It was fantastic to see students make links to what we learned about in the classroom and then experience it firsthand at Ambleside. We received some very positive feedback from the volunteers about our students’ thoughtful questions and excellent manners.
In Writing, students spent time unpacking the elements of procedural texts and students enjoyed creating their own butter and fairy bread after writing their own set of instructions. Images and sounds from Indigenous perspectives were explored as ways to communicate a story, such as through traditional music and dance.
In Maths we practised making collections and estimating to to count efficiently. This culminated in a competition to win a jar of jellybeans for your class. Congratulations to 1Q for being the best estimators in Year One!
We look forward to a term 4 full of exciting learning and new challenges.
Year 2
Term 3 has been fun and eventful for the Year 2 students.
In Maths we have practised our four processes, discovered more about fractions and applied these skills to our work with measurement and mass.
In Literacy we have explored procedural texts, making playdough by following recipes, and studied a variety of author’s styles. The book character dress up day was an awesome experience.
Our ELOs have helped us understand more about the countries of the Commonwealth, and we had a great day participating in our own Commonwealth Games activities.
We were busy swimming throughout the term and the excursion to Ambleside and Lollypops was a great highlight, where we learnt more about what life was like in the past.
We are looking forward to more exciting adventures in Term 4.
Term 3 started off with the fantastic Oasis Camp. The students had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the activities on offer.
In Literacy, students explored information report and narrative writing. They have also been working hard to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills.
In Mathematics, students challenged themselves by solving worded problems using the four operations. Students particularly enjoyed our measurement unit and had lots of fun using scales while experimenting with weight and mass.
During our Inquiry topic, “When We First Met,” students learnt about the first contact between Europeans and First Nations people and what life was like in Australia before the First Fleet arrived.
We had so many fun events this term, including the amazing Book Week Parade, Hoop Time, Colour Day and, of course, the Disco and Footy Dress Day.
We are so proud of our Year 3 students and all that they have achieved this term.
Year 4
Year 4 students have enjoyed a busy and eventful Term 3! It has been wonderful to watch our students continue to develop their independence as learners.
In mathematics, students explored diverse topics such as perimeter and area, problem-solving, mass, and temperature.
Our writing program focused on understanding specific genres and language features to keep our text engaging, covering recounts, procedures, poetry, and biographies. Students continued to strengthen their reading comprehension by analysing digital texts, poetry, and visual literacy.
Alongside regular classroom activities, our students participated in several exciting events, including Book Week, Athletics Day, and Hoop Time.
Congratulations to all Year 4 students on a highly successful Term 3, we look forward to even greater achievements in Term 4!
Year 5
Year 5s have had a great term full of fun and learning.
For Inquiry, we did a deep dive into Australia’s history, learning all about events such as colonisation and its impacts, migration, the Gold Rush and Australia’s Federation. As part of this unit, students learned how to build their own websites, each creating a site dedicated to the life of a figure significant to Australia’s past. They presented these alongside some amazing artefacts at our Expo last week.
All classes enjoyed the novel ‘Tom Appleby’ which tells the story of a young English boy who is sentenced to transportation on board the First Fleet. Students enjoyed following Tom’s journey through many hardships and produced some excellent reading responses to this text.
A maths highlight for many was our Personal Best Project, where students collected data over 5 days about a chosen task, such as number of catches made in one minute. It was great to see students analysing their own statistics and drawing conclusions.
Of course, students also enjoyed participating in special events such as the Book Parade and the STEM VR incursion.
Year 6
Term 3 has been a busy and exciting term for Year 6!
Students embraced the opportunity to represent our school at Interschool Sport, competing in volleyball, tennis, handball, cricket and softball, as well as taking part in our Rugby Gala Day where they demonstrated fantastic teamwork, sportsmanship and school spirit.
We also enjoyed the fun and creativity of Book Week, with students dressing up as their favourite characters and celebrating a love of reading. Another highlight was Regency’s Got Talent, where we were incredibly proud to see our students take to the stage and share their talents, including piano, guitar, singing and even some impressive magic card tricks!
In the classroom, our Inquiry learning has been a highlight, with students researching a famous Australian before designing and creating an artefact to represent their learning.
We finished the unit by sharing our work at our Inquiry Expo, where students proudly presented their research and creative artefacts. It has been wonderful to see students challenge themselves, try new things, share their talents and celebrate their achievements throughout the term.
It has been a busy and exciting term in the Art Room, with plenty of fun, creativity and learning taking place. Students have been exploring new materials, developing their skills and bringing their ideas to life through a range of hands-on art projects. Prep students have been exploring a range of materials in the Art Room. A highlight was their mini art project inspired by A Monster in My House. Students used brown and dark tones to draw their own monsters, create a background, and then transform their designs into 3D sculptures using air-dry clay. Year 1 and 2 have been exploring printmaking and how artists use different tools and objects to create prints. Students experimented with a variety of materials to create textures and marks with paint—including vegetables! Year 3 and 4 have been exploring 3D construction using cardboard. Students have been learning how to design and construct sculptures without relying on tape. They have created plans and are now cutting and preparing their pieces for assembly early next term. Year 5 and 6 have been developing their fine-motor skills through a range of sewing projects, learning to thread needles, tie string and create delicate stitches. Grade 5 students will be creating their personally designed small plushies, while Grade 6 students have been exploring embroidery, using thread to fill shapes and create intricate lines and patterns.
Auslan & Cultural Studies – Ms Hawkins
At the start of Term 3 across the school we learnt Auslan signs connected to NAIDOC week, before learning about the Commonwealth Games. Signs for win, sport, gold medal, and even boxing kangaroo were learnt in different ways from Years One to Six! In Prep there was a focus on learning signs connected to different actions and emotions, such as happy, excited, sad and angry. In Years 1 and 2, students had a major focus on the Auslan for people who help us in the community. Board games, bingo and the favourite ‘around the room’ signing games continue to be the favourite activities for the junior schools. In Year 3 and 4 we learnt about the importance of handshapes and where on the body we locate a sign to ensure the correct meaning. (You definitely don’t want to sign ‘Eat your sister’ if you meant to sign ‘Eat your dinner’!!) In Year 5 and 6, we worked on translating a simple picture storybook into Auslan. Students worked in groups and quickly realised how Auslan grammar is often different to English grammar! Overall, it was a productive and busy term. It is fantastic to see the students remembering and using a wide variety of signs.
Health & Physical Education – Mr Pearce
Term 3 in Sport and Physical Education has been incredibly busy, with students developing their skills across a wide range of sports. Junior grades focused on fundamental movements, tennis, and tag games, while Years 3 and 4 took on T-Ball and Badminton. Our Year 5 and 6 students tackled Rugby League, European Handball, and Ultimate Frisbee, and later wrapped up the term competing in two exciting days of summer sports. The absolute highlights came from our phenomenal interschool sports achievements in Athletics and Hoop Time Basketball. A huge congratulations to our Middle All Star Boys, Middle All Star Girls, and Future Stars Boys basketball teams, as well as our individual track and field athletes, who have all qualified for the regional stage in Term 4! We are incredibly proud of everyone’s efforts and look forward to another successful term of sport ahead.
There was much to explore in the STEM room this term, so we set our scientific minds to work.
Prep students were ‘On The Move’ this term, as they explored forces in STEM. They looked at how things move, both living and non-living, and finished off the term with a ramp rolling investigation!
The rest of the school explored Earth and Space sciences, starting with Years 1 and 2 who learned about Earth’s rotation, day and night, star constellations, the sun and the moon. Years 3 and 4 explored Earth’s place in space – looking at the characteristics of our amazing planet, including its unique layers and making their own earth models to take home.
The 8 planets in our solar system were investigated by Years 5 and 6, who started their unit off with a Virtual Reality Space incursion. Students then learned about how the seasons occur on Earth and compared our planet to others. The final project was a podcast episode which students have recorded and hope to share with the school community early in Term 4.
Music & Performing Arts – Mr Meeking
A huge highlight of the term was Regency’s Got Talent. Held over two afternoons in Week 8, the event was a tremendous success and thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike. Regency Park is fortunate to have so many talented students, and I would like to congratulate everyone who participated in both the class heats and the final showcase. As always, there were many highlights across all year levels in the Performing Arts.
Our Prep students displayed wonderful enthusiasm and talent while learning and performing songs for Father’s Day and school assemblies. Their confidence and enjoyment shone through in every performance. Year 1 and 2 students delivered outstanding performances to a large audience during the Grandparent’s Day Concert. Their hard work and dedication were evident, and they should be very proud of their achievements.
Year 3 and 4 students continued to work diligently on developing their keyboard skills and expanding their musical repertoire. It has been pleasing to see their growing confidence throughout the term. Year 3 and 4 also collaborated in small groups to compose, arrange and produce original pieces of music using GarageBand. It was wonderful to see students take pride in their compositions and share their finished works with their peers.
Year 5 and 6 students continued to work in small bands during music classes. Each band included electric guitar or ukulele, bass guitar, keyboard, drums and vocals. Students learnt parts of a song on the various instruments and rehearsed the song as a band to the point where each group was ready to perform to their classmates. I am also delighted with the progress of both Year 6 school bands. Each group has one lunchtime per week rehearsing and building a repertoire of songs, and they are eagerly looking forward to performing to the whole school in a special concert next term.
The talent, effort and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students at Regency Park continue to be outstanding. I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved this term and look forward to an exciting and rewarding Term 4.

Thank you to all of our families who have already paid their family contributions. Please see our Business Manager, if you would like to undertake a payment plan for upcoming school costs.
Please note payments for the majority of school events/excursions will be processed via COMPASS.
Throughout the year there are many payments to be made for excursions, camps and swimming. It is very important that these payments are paid by the due date.
All events that require permission and payment will need to be made by the due date if you wish your child to participate.
Only in very extreme circumstances will we be able to process payments after this date, even if the excursion has not yet happened.
Unfortunately, this means your child misses out on the event.
From experience I know that parents can be quite upset when this occurs, so I ask you to be aware of this process and ensure that consent and payments are made via COMPASS on time.
If you have trouble accessing COMPASS or completing payments, please see our office staff who can assist you with the process.
88 Students, 11 Teams, 2 Grand Finals – Hoop Time Glory!
On Tuesday, 8th September, our school spirit was on full display as 88 students competed across 11 different teams in the Junior Hoop Time Basketball Competition at Nunawading Basketball Stadium.
Our players hit the courts with incredible energy, representing our school beautifully across all divisions from the high stakes All Stars competition right through to the beginner Rookies. Every single team put in a fantastic effort on the day, playing with great sportsmanship and determination. A special congratulations goes out to our All-Star Boys and one of our Future Stars teams who both won their grand finals! These two champions will now proudly move on to compete at the regional stage in Term 4, and we wish them the best of luck.
An event of this scale is only possible with the incredible support of our school community. We would like to extend a massive thank you to our volunteer coaches—Michelle D, Emma H, Tanya R, Holly K, Jenelle S, Erin S, Ben O, and Kaitlyn P—for dedicating their time, skills, and encouragement to our players.
