2026 NAPLAN Results are in!

Over the past few weeks, we have been unpacking our NAPLAN results. While NAPLAN provides just one snapshot of a student’s learning journey, we are proud not only of the individual results but also of our cohort and school results.

As a school, we continue to be proud of our strong academic performance. Once again, our results are generally above those of the state, our network schools (which include schools in Rowville, Wantirna, and out to The Basin), and similar schools (those with comparable demographics).

As you can see by some of our highlights, there is plenty in our 2026 NAPLAN results to celebrate. However, the results also provide valuable information about w

here we can continue to improve. We use NAPLAN alongside our own school-based assessment data to identify areas for growth and ensure our teaching and learning priorities are focused on making a difference for every student.

A key focus is our continued implementation of Little Learners Love Literacy, our structured synthetic phonics program across Prep to Year 2. As this approach becomes incre

asingly embedded in classrooms, we look forward to seeing the impact on students’ early reading and spelling skills.

Once again, we acknowledge that results like these don’t just happen by chance. They are the result of dedicated teaching and a genuine partnership between home and school. We are incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptional team of teachers, and we thank our families for their ongoing support and collaboration.

Best Wishes to Jemma Boasman

We send our best wishes to Jemma Boasman as she commences her maternity leave at the end of this week.

We wish Jemma and her family all the very best for this exciting time!

Year 1 & 2 Swimming

Congratulations to all Year 1 & 2 students on completing their swimming lessons. The staff at Knox Leisure Works have complemented their behaviour, focus and effort. A big thank you to staff and families for their support.

Movement Around Our School

As we move further into the implementation of School Wide Positive Behaviours, we have been focusing on how we move around our school during learning time. We have developed clear and consistent expectations and proactively acknowledging students who are demonstrating and upholding our school values as they move around the school. Your child’s line up area may have changed because of this focus.

As we reinforce these expectations, we ask that families please minimise the time spent inside the school buildings, particularly around drop-off and pick-up times. Where possible, we encourage families to wait outside rather than entering the building.

At the end of the day, walking around the outside of the building, rather than cutting through the office area, would also be greatly appreciated. This helps us to minimise traffic through the school and provides a consistent environment for students as we transition from learning time to the end of the school day. Thank you for your support as we continue to establish consistent and positive expectations across our school.

State School Spectacular

As the State School Spectacular team approach their final rehearsal, we wish them well with their performances at John Cain Arena on Saturday 29th August. There are still tickets available, and I know myself and a group of staff are looking forward to cheering the group on!

In Memory of Xavier

Last week, the Regency Park Primary School community said a very sad farewell to one of our own. Taken far too soon, past student Xavier Kokken from the Class of 2021, was fondly remembered for his cheeky smile, infectious laugh, steely determination and passion for the North Melbourne Football club. Xavier’s family spoke warmly of his time at Regency Park, sharing special memories and acknowledging the connections he made during his years at our school.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to the Kokken family. To Briony, Peter, Jorja and Aiden… please know that you are in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace Xavier. You have left a lasting mark on the Regency Park community and on all those who had the privilege of knowing you.

Every Child. Every Opportunity.
With courage and commitment,

Allyson Kocaj

Assistant Principal – Teaching & Learning Report

Read Time: ( words)

As we move through Term 3, it has been wonderful to see the continued growth and development of our students through the Little Learners Love Literacy phonics program across Prep – Year 2.

Little Learners Love Literacy is a structured, evidence-informed phonics program that provides explicit and systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding and word knowledge, helping our students develop the essential skills for reading and spelling.

Recent assessments have shown very pleasing progress across all year levels, reflecting the continued development of our students’ phonics knowledge and early reading skills. Our recent Year 1 Phonics Screening assessment was particularly encouraging, with results showing pleasing improvements compared with last year.

This progress highlights the impact of our consistent, explicit phonics teaching and the wonderful effort our students are putting into their learning. Thank you to our families for supporting literacy learning at home and helping our young learners become confident and enthusiastic readers. We look forward to continuing to build our students’ confidence, knowledge and love of literacy.

Team Kids – Out Of School Hours Care Service

Read Time: ( words)

We are excited to be preparing for the launch of our very own Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) service in partnership with TeamKids. The service will commence on the first day of Term 4, Monday 5 October, and we are pleased to share that a number of families have already registered.

As we move closer to the launch, there is an important opportunity for families to learn more about the service.

Meet the Team
Families are also invited to meet the TeamKids team on Friday 21st August from 8am. Join them outside the hall before assembly to enjoy a complimentary coffee and learn more about what TeamKids has to offer.

Hardcopies of the TeamKids handbook have also been sent to all families today. We look forward to welcoming TeamKids to our school community and are excited to offer this new service to support our families!

COMPASS changes for easy and clear communication from the office.

Instructions for making your payment will be provided from the office via Compass with the step-by-step guide for use on your phone or computer.

Punctuality in consent & payments on COMPASS

Thank you to all of our families who have already paid their family contributions. Please see our Business Manager, if you would like to undertake a payment plan for upcoming school costs.
Please note payments for the majority of school events/excursions will be processed via COMPASS.

Throughout the year there are many payments to be made for excursions, camps and swimming. It is very important that these payments are paid by the due date.

All events that require permission and payment will need to be made by the due date if you wish your child to participate.

Only in very extreme circumstances will we be able to process payments after this date, even if the excursion has not yet happened.

Unfortunately, this means your child misses out on the event.

From experience I know that parents can be quite upset when this occurs, so I ask you to be aware of this process and ensure that consent and payments are made via COMPASS on time.

If you have trouble accessing COMPASS or completing payments, please see our office staff who can assist you with the process.

District Athletics

On Friday 14th August, 67 students proudly represented Regency Park Primary School at the District Athletics Carnival held at the Knox Athletics Track.

Our students competed with great enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship across a range of track and field events. We were thrilled with the fantastic results, with 16 students and 2 relay teams qualifying for the Divisional Athletics Finals, to be held in the final week of Term 3.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful parent supporters, as well as Ms Griffiths, Mrs Gardner and Mrs Walton, for their help and support throughout the day. We would also like to thank our student teachers, Samantha Adam and Kayla Vollerup, for their assistance and encouragement.

Congratulations to all 67 students who represented our school. We are incredibly proud of the effort, attitude and sportsmanship shown throughout the day. We wish our successful qualifiers all the very best at the Divisional Finals!
