Welcome back to Term 3! It is hard to believe that we are already more than halfway through the school year.
I have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with students and hearing about their holiday adventures. A particular highlight was being invited into the Year 1 classrooms to read the postcards students had written about their break. Their postcards showcased the many exciting experiences they enjoyed, from overseas holidays and family trips to playdates with friends and special activities at home.
I was also incredibly proud of the high standard of writing demonstrated by our Year 1 students. Their creativity, enthusiasm and attention to detail were impressive. Well done, Year 1!
Staffing Welcomes
With Ms Jayde Carins commencing her maternity leave at the end of last term, we are pleased to welcome back former staff member Ms Rachael Moore. Ms Moore is job sharing with Ms Janine Graham in 2C, now known as 2MG. Ms Graham was already a valued member of our staff and has adjusted her workdays to support this arrangement.
As Mrs Jemma Boasman prepares to commence her maternity leave, it has been a pleasure to welcome Mrs Rachel Armstrong to Regency Park. Mrs Armstrong has spent time getting to know students, staff and school routines ahead of taking on the class. Ms Rachael Moore will also work one day per week in 4AM, formerly 4B.
AIP Mid-Year Review
Approaching the halfway point of the school year provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on our progress towards our Annual Implementation Priorities in Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing and Inclusion. Recently, our School Improvement Team reviewed our progress, and it was pleasing to see that our work for 2026 remains on track.
In Teaching and Learning, the introduction of structured phonics instruction across Prep to Year 2 continues to have a positive impact on students’ early reading development. Alongside this, our professional learning has focused on embedding key aspects of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM), supporting greater consistency in teaching practice and high-quality learning experiences for all students.
In the Wellbeing and Inclusion space, a key focus has been the introduction of School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This term, we will continue to define and align expected behaviours with our new school values and look forward to sharing these values with the broader school community as this work progresses.
What’s On The Term
Term 3 is shaping up to be another busy and productive term at Regency Park. As we continue working towards our Annual Implementation Plan goals, our Student-Free Day on Friday 31 July will provide an important opportunity for staff professional learning and collaboration.
We are also excited to be working with TeamKids as we prepare to launch our own Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service in Term 4. Preparations are underway, including upgrades to our facilities to ensure they meet all safety and compliance requirements. We look forward to sharing more information with families throughout the term.
There are also many exciting events ahead. We encourage families to keep an eye on our Compass Calendar and the Calendar Dates for Families section of the newsletter. Highlights include celebration of our annual Book Week Parade dress up on Monday 24th August and later in the term Regency’s Got Talent, and our school disco, with more information to follow.
Smile for the Dental Van
This week, we welcomed the Australian Smile Group van to Regency Park, with more than 200 students accessing the service throughout the week.
We hope this opportunity has provided valuable support for students’ oral health and overall wellbeing, and we thank the Australian Smile Group team for visiting our school.
Year 4 Camp & Year 3 Day Camp
Towards the end of last term, our Year 4 students enjoyed their first overnight camp to Phillip Island. To begin this term, our Year 3 students had the opportunity to experience their own day camp.
Now in its second year, the Year 3 day camp continues to be a valuable experience, providing students with a taste of camp life and helping build confidence and independence before participating in an overnight camp the following year.
Highlights from both camps feature in this edition of the newsletter. Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 4 students for embracing new experiences, challenging themselves, and stepping outside their comfort zones. We hope these opportunities have created lasting memories and strengthened friendships along the way. My thanks to the staff and families whose support helped make these experiences possible.
Morning Supervision
A reminder that staff are on duty from 8:45am each morning.
Students should not enter our grounds before this time, unless directly supervised by their parent or carer.
High School Students at Pick Up
We know that many older siblings walk from the college to collect younger brothers and sisters at the end of the school day.
We ask families to please remind high school students that they are not permitted to enter school buildings during learning time unless authorised by school staff. In line with our Child Safety obligations, high school students, parents and carers are also not permitted to use or enter the student toilets on the school grounds.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students.
2027 Enrolment Update
Enrolments for Prep 2027 close on the Insight platform at the end of this month.
If you know a family with a child starting school next year, please encourage them to contact our friendly office team to arrange a school tour and learn more about what Regency Park has to offer.
Can & Bottle Recycling Update
We have completed our registration with CDS Victoria and Visy and are excited to begin this new recycling/fundraising journey with our wonderful Regency Park families!
For every eligible drink container (like plastic bottles, glass bottles, and aluminium cans) you return to a participating depot or Reverse Vending Machine, you can choose to donate the 10c refund directly to our school.
As shared by our Regency Rangers at last terms assembly the money raised will go directly towards supporting our Regency Rangers implement sustainability initiatives across our school.
When taking your items to a local refund point simply scan our school’s barcode (above) at the kiosk or depot, and the 10-cent refund for each container will be transferred directly to our school account. This works by taking a photo of the barcode on your phone.
If you can’t get to a local refund point don’t worry… we will also be setting up a collection point at school so you can deposit clean bottles and cans here! Stay tuned for more information about this.
Our Regency Rangers have set themselves the goal of reaching donations to the value of $500 this year. Keep your eye on the thermometer near the office to see how we are tracking.

Celebrating Learning Through Our Parent Teacher Student Conferences
On Tuesday, many of our families joined us for the first night of our Parent Teacher Student Conferences, and it was wonderful to see our students sharing their learning and celebrating their achievements. Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make these conversations so valuable.
We look forward to welcoming the remaining families for their conferences next Thursday 30th July. These meetings provide an important opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, while ensuring students are at the heart of the conversation.
A key part of the conferences is the chance for students to showcase work they are proud of and reflect on the growth, effort, and progress they have made throughout Semester 1. Sharing their learning in this way helps students recognise how far they have come, as well as considering future goals.
Giving students the opportunity to talk about their learning encourages them to take ownership of their progress and develop confidence as learners. As they celebrate successes and discuss areas for growth, they build the skills to become increasingly independent, motivated, and resilient.
We encourage families to ask questions, celebrate achievements, and engage in conversations with your children about their learning. These conversations reinforce the important role that students, families, and teachers all play in supporting learning growth.

COMPASS changes for easy and clear communication from the office.
Sick Bay Attendance
Following feedback from our families, notifications will now come to parents via a simple text message to your phone, rather than an email. The message will advise parents of any minor injury treated in the first aid room, including minor head knocks with the student’s safe return to class.
For any major head knock or injury parents will be contacted directly via phone.
Unexplained Absence Notifications
Will now be sent to parents from 9.30am, via text message. If your child is absent without your explanation, you will receive a text message from the office for your reply.
2026 Parent Payment via COMPASS
Instructions for making your payment will be provided from the office via Compass with the step-by-step guide for use on your phone or computer.
Punctuality in consent & payments on COMPASS
Thank you to all of our families who have already paid their family contributions. Please see our Business Manager, if you would like to undertake a payment plan for upcoming school costs.
Please note payments for the majority of school events/excursions will be processed via COMPASS.
Throughout the year there are many payments to be made for excursions, camps and swimming. It is very important that these payments are paid by the due date.
All events that require permission and payment will need to be made by the due date if you wish your child to participate.
Only in very extreme circumstances will we be able to process payments after this date, even if the excursion has not yet happened.
Unfortunately, this means your child misses out on the event.
From experience I know that parents can be quite upset when this occurs, so I ask you to be aware of this process and ensure that consent and payments are made via COMPASS on time.
If you have trouble accessing COMPASS or completing payments, please see our office staff who can assist you with the process.
2027 Prep Enrolments

Our Year 3 Day Camp was an absolute blast! Students had an amazing time for their first Regency Park camp… even travelling on the buses was exciting!
At the venue (Oasis Camp in Mount Evelyn), the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in all the activities on offer which included the flying fox, games room, rock climbing, candle making and archery. We were impressed with the students’ behaviour and enthusiasm across the day and it was wonderful to see many of them step outside their comfort zones and try new things. It certainly will be a day to remember!
Phillip Island Adventure Resort & San Remo
In Term 2, Year 4 students attended Phillip Island Adventure Resort. It was a cold but clear day when we headed down to the island. We stopped at San Remo, had our snack and watched the pelicans being fed. We sat by the foreshore and encountered some very persistent seagulls that liked the look of our lunch!
Once we arrived at camp, we got straight into the activities. It was great to see our students challenging themselves on the high swing, perfecting their aim in archery, mastering camp cooking and working in teams to complete the low ropes course.
The next day was action-packed with camp activities and games, lots of great food, and time spent with our friends. We finished off our time with a trip to the foreshore, walking around the rockpools and playing games on the beach. It was a fantastic camp; everyone had a great time, and some lasting memories were made.
On Friday 18th July, our Year 5/6 All-Star Boys and Girls teams proudly represented Regency Park at the Rowville District School Sport Victoria Basketball Competition, held at the Nunawading Basketball Centre. After weeks of dedicated training, both teams competed in six exciting matches, displaying outstanding teamwork, determination and school spirit throughout the day.
Both teams finished as runners-up, narrowly losing their grand finals by just two points, and have earned a place in the Term 4 Divisional Finals. Their commitment, resilience and sportsmanship were a credit to both them and our school.
A big thank you to Mrs McCoy for coaching the Girls team, Holly K for coaching the Boys team, and to our supportive parents and staff who help make these opportunities possible. Congratulations to all of our players on a fantastic achievement!
Girls’ AFL Team Competes at Knox Divisional Carnival
On Tuesday 21st July, Regency Park proudly entered a girls’ AFL team in the Knox Divisional Competition, enjoying a fantastic day of football and teamwork. The team finished 10th overall after playing five competitive games, showing outstanding determination, resilience and enthusiasm from start to finish.
The girls represented our school with pride, displaying excellent teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive attitude throughout the day. Their commitment to supporting one another and never giving up was a credit to both them and our school community.
A big thank you also goes to our parents and grandparents whose encouragement and support from the sidelines helped make the day so enjoyable. We are incredibly proud of the way our girls represented Regency Park both on and off the field.
