Values

Our school values are at the heart of everything we do. They guide how we interact as a community and shape the expectations we hold for one another. Our current values have served our school incredibly well over many years. However, as communities evolve and times change, it is important that we continue to reflect on the values we are instilling in the young people in our care.

As you may be aware, we are in the early stages of beginning our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) journey. Key staff members completed training last term, and we are now beginning the planning process for the rollout of this approach. Our aim is to create a clear, consistent and supportive approach to promoting positive behaviours across our school. There will be many opportunities for community input throughout this process.

The first step in this journey is to bring our values to the forefront and seek feedback from our community about the direction we take moving forward. Our values will play a key role in defining and anchoring the behaviours, attitudes and culture we want to see across our school community.

Following a number of workshops with staff, four overarching sentiments have emerged that we hope our future school values will capture:

  • We treat others how we would like to be treated
  • We face our challenges and keep moving forward
  • We do what is right, own our actions and learn from our mistakes
  • We are learners who strive to improve and do our best

From these sentiments, we have developed three possible sets of school values for our community to consider. Over the coming weeks, students will take part in workshops and discussions to ensure they have a voice in selecting the values that resonate most strongly with them. Similarly, all staff will contribute throughout the process, and we warmly invite our families to share their feedback and vote on the values they would like to see guide our school into the future.

The survey will be shared with families via Compass and will remain open until Tuesday 26th of May. We thank you for taking the time to contribute to this important process.

We look forward to sharing the outcome with our community.

Supporting Respectful Interactions at School

Parents and carers play an important role in helping us maintain a safe, respectful and supportive school environment. From time to time, concerns may arise regarding student behaviour, playground interactions or conflict involving children at school. While families are naturally invested in the wellbeing of their child, it is important that student behaviour matters involving other children are managed by school staff.

Parents must not approach, correct or reprimand children who are not their own at school, including in response to behaviour they have witnessed or following a conflict involving their child. This includes before and after school, at school events and within school grounds. While concerns may be genuine, direct adult intervention with another student can be intimidating and distressing for children and may unintentionally escalate situations. This expectation forms part of our Child Safety Standards and Code of Conduct, and instances where these expectations are not upheld will be followed up by school leadership.

If you witness behaviour that concerns you, or if your child reports an issue involving another student, we ask that you speak directly with a staff member rather than addressing the child yourself. School staff are responsible for investigating concerns, supporting all students involved and responding in a fair, calm and developmentally appropriate way.

We greatly value the partnership we have with families and appreciate your support in modelling respectful communication and positive ways of resolving concerns. By working together and allowing staff to manage student behaviour matters, we can continue to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Mother’s Day

A special shoutout to all the wonderful helpers who supported our Mother’s Day stall! Your time and effort, whether it was taking orders, setting up and packing down the stall, selling items, or completing the extensive stocktake, did not go unnoticed.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed the chance to choose something special and meaningful for the important people in their lives. To our Prep mums and special people, we hope you enjoyed a wonderful occasion on our Mother’s Day afternoon.

We hope all our Regency Park mums, grandmothers and special people enjoy a beautiful weekend of celebration!

Celebrating Education Week 2026!

Every child, every opportunity…these words truly reflect everything we stand for at Regency Park Primary School. As we look across each week and the exciting opportunities on offer, there is always something to look forward to, something that broadens our students’ horizons and deepens their learning.

The statewide theme for Education Week 2026 is ‘Showcase your School.’ As we celebrate Education Week 2026, our staff have chosen to open our doors and shine a light on our ‘bread and butter,’ the core learning experiences that lie at the heart of education at Regency Park. Our teachers have planned fun and engaging activities for families to join in, offering a glimpse into our everyday teaching.

Like last year, we have streamlined our approach to make it easier for families, especially those with multiple children at our school. We will be open for classroom visits on Wednesday 20th May from 2:00 to 3:15pm. In addition, families are invited to attend selected specialist classes throughout the week.

We will also be marking the occasion with a special Education Week assembly on Monday 18th May at 9:00am.

Exciting News

We are delighted to share some very special news with our community… Our Year 4 teacher, Mrs Jemma Boasman, is expecting a baby later this year!

We are absolutely thrilled for Mrs Boasman as she begins this exciting new chapter. Mrs Boasman will continue teaching her Year 4 class for now, and we will provide further information about staffing arrangements for her leave closer to the time to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for the students. Please join us in congratulating Mrs Boasman on this wonderful news!

Regency Rangers

During last week’s assembly, we introduced our new student leaders: the Regency Rangers
.

This group will be dedicated to promoting a clean and environmentally friendly school, with members proudly receiving their badges to recognise their commitment to keeping our school “clean and green.”

We are looking forward to working with students who take pride in maintaining a tidy school environment, encouraging others to do the right thing by putting rubbish in the bin.

Walk to School Day – Friday 22 May

Our school is excited to celebrate Walk to School Day on Friday 22 May! This special day encourages students and families to include more walking as part of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Regular walking is great for our health and wellbeing. It helps children stay active, build healthy habits, improve fitness, and enjoy fresh air before the school day begins. Walking together also provides a valuable opportunity for parents and carers to teach children how to be safe around roads, traffic, and pedestrian crossings.

Even if your family can’t walk all the way to school, there are still plenty of ways to get involved.
You might like to:

  • Park a little further away and walk the last part of the journey
  • Hop off public transport one stop earlier
  • Walk part of the trip with friends or family

Mrs Fitzgerald and Mr Walton will be ready to greet students and families at the front of the school as you arrive. Please make sure you collect a raffle ticket and a sticker as you enter.

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs!

  • P–2 students: Two family vouchers to Lollypop’s Playland
  • Years 3–6 students: Two double passes to Burwood One Roller Skating

We thank both of these companies for their generous donations and support of our school programs!
Prize winners will be drawn at our assembly in Week 6.
We look forward to seeing lots of smiling faces walking to school next Friday 22 May!

Every child. Every opportunity.
With courage and commitment,

Every, Day Matters

At Regency Park Primary School, we believe that every day at school matters. Attending school every day means experiencing what counts — the learning, friendships, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.

When absences add up across a term or a year, students can miss out on more learning, connection, and opportunity than many of us realise. Missing just one day a fortnight can cause students to fall behind — and those absences accumulate faster than we expect. In fact, missing just one day of school a fortnight adds up to four weeks of missed learning every year — that’s a lot of learning missed!

Of course, we know that sometimes life gets in the way, and there will be times when your child genuinely needs to stay home. If they’re unwell and need to rest up on the couch, that’s exactly the right call — please don’t feel pressure to send a sick child to school! But for days when they’re feeling well, we’d love to see them here.

If your child is finding it hard to attend for other reasons — whether it’s worries about friendships, schoolwork, or something else entirely — please reach out. We’d love to work with you to find the right support. If your child must miss school, please notify us as soon as possible so we can work together to help them stay on track.

Remember, Every Day Matters.

Important Information from Our Office

Read Time: ( words)

We have some COMPASS changes commencing next week for easy and clear communication from the office.

Following feedback from our families, notifications will now come to parents via a simple text message to your phone, rather than an email. The message will advise parents of any minor injury treated in the first aid room, including minor head knocks with the student’s safe return to class.

For any major head knock or injury parents will be contacted directly via phone.

Will now be sent to parents from 9.30am, via text message. If your child is absent without your explanation, you will receive a text message from the office for your reply.

Instructions for making your payment will be provided from the office via Compass with the step-by-step guide for use on your phone or computer.

Punctuality in consent & payments on COMPASS

Thank you to all of our families who have already paid their family contributions. Please see our Business Manager, if you would like to undertake a payment plan for upcoming school costs.
Please note payments for the majority of school events/excursions will be processed via COMPASS.

Throughout the year there are many payments to be made for excursions, camps and swimming. It is very important that these payments are paid by the due date.

All events that require permission and payment will need to be made by the due date if you wish your child to participate.

Only in very extreme circumstances will we be able to process payments after this date, even if the excursion has not yet happened.

Unfortunately, this means your child misses out on the event.

From experience I know that parents can be quite upset when this occurs, so I ask you to be aware of this process and ensure that consent and payments are made via COMPASS on time.

If you have trouble accessing COMPASS or completing payments, please see our office staff who can assist you with the process.

2027 Prep Enrolments

Do you have a child starting Prep in 2027? Please contact the school office to receive updates on the enrolment process and key dates. We look forward to welcoming your child to our school community.

Eastern Regional Cross Country

Last Friday 8th May, we had 59 students proudly represent Regency Park at the Rowville District Cross Country Carnival. In great conditions for cross country running, our students displayed our school values throughout the day and represented our school with great pride and determination. Regency Park finished in 6th place overall, which was a fantastic achievement against strong competition.

We were thrilled with the many excellent results across the day and are excited to announce that 8 students have qualified for the Knox Divisional Cross Country Carnival later this month. Congratulations to Jake B, Jack D, Sadie, Charlotte P, Jayde J, Summer J, Arlo M and Caleb F on this wonderful accomplishment. A big thank you to Mrs Campbell, Mrs Bertrand and Mrs Walton for supporting our students throughout the day, as well as all of the families who came along to cheer on and encourage our Regency Park students.

Yesterday, we held our Year 3 – 6 House Athletics Carnival was held in fantastic spirit, with students demonstrating outstanding effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout the entire day. It was wonderful to see all students encouraging one another, trying their personal best and proudly representing their house teams across all events.

A huge thank you to all parents and family members who came along to support and cheer on our students. We would also like to acknowledge and thank our staff, ES staff and student teachers for helping run such a successful day. A special thank you goes to Mrs Mackinnon for once again tallying all scores throughout the carnival, and to Mr Meeking for creating a fun and positive atmosphere with his great tunes across the day.

Mr Pearce is now in the process of reviewing results and selecting students to represent Regency Park at the District Athletics Carnival in Term 3.

Finally, congratulations to Clarke House, who were crowned our overall champions for the day. Well done to all students for making the carnival such a positive and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
