Welcome Back To Term 2!

We hope the start of term has been an enjoyable one for you and your child.

Book Fair

To start our term, our library at Regency Park has been transformed into a magnificent space where our young readers’ book dreams have come true! We have been overwhelmed by the incredible response from our community, which helps us continue to grow our library collection.

The Book Fair would not be possible without Emma Brown, who does an exceptional job maintaining our library. The logistics involved in bringing the annual Book Fair to life are immense, and we are so grateful for all of Emma’s hard work.

A very big thank you also goes to the many staff members and parent helpers who supported Emma throughout the week. Your generous assistance has been truly appreciated.

Finally, thank you to our Library Captains who went above and beyond in promoting the Book Fair…their enthusiasm was absolutely infectious!

ANZAC Commemorations

Our school community came together to acknowledge and honour ANZAC Day with a number of meaningful commemorations.

Our Year 6 leaders were invited to attend the local service at the Tim Neville Arboretum, where they had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of our school. They represented our community with pride and respect, and we are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves. We extend our sincere thanks to the Rotary Club for their organisation and support of this important local event.

At school, our School and Flag Captains led a commemorative service, demonstrating outstanding leadership and setting a respectful tone. Students were invited to lay flowers at the base of the flagpole as a gesture of remembrance, creating a powerful and reflective moment for our community.

We thank our captains for their leadership and all students and staff for their respectful participation in recognising this significant occasion.

Every Day Counts

The central message from the Education Department, and at Regency Park, is simple: every day counts when it comes to school attendance. As a school, we monitor student absence data closely and work to understand the reasons behind absences.

We absolutely recognise that school is not the place for unwell children, and we understand that special family events or trips don’t always align with school holidays. However, we ask families to be mindful of the impact that frequent absences can have on a child’s learning, social connections, and sense of belonging.

We have also noticed an increase in late arrivals. Our classrooms are open from 8:50am each morning, and this time plays an important role in supporting a smooth transition into the school day. It allows students to settle in, connect with their peers and teacher, and get organised for learning which starts promptly at 9:00am. When students arrive late, they can miss important information and may find it harder to begin the day confidently.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your child attends school regularly and arrives on time, because it’s true, every day really does count.

Celebrating Education Week 2026!

Every child, every opportunity…these words truly reflect everything we stand for at Regency Park Primary School. As we look across each week and the exciting opportunities on offer, there is always something to look forward to, something that broadens our students’ horizons and deepens their learning.

The statewide theme for Education Week 2026 is ‘Showcase your School.’ As we celebrate Education Week 2026, our staff have chosen to open our doors and shine a light on our ‘bread and butter,’ the core learning experiences that lie at the heart of education at Regency Park. Our teachers have planned fun and engaging activities for families to join in, offering a glimpse into our everyday teaching.

Like last year, we have streamlined our approach to make it easier for families, especially those with multiple children at our school. We will be open for classroom visits on Wednesday 20th May from 2:00 to 3:15pm. In addition, families are invited to attend selected specialist classes throughout the week.

We will also be marking the occasion with a special Education Week assembly on Monday 18th May at 9:00am.

Further information will be posted on Compass early next week. We look forward to celebrating the many things that make learning at Regency Park so special. Insert general photos of students learning.

Regency Rangers

At our first school assembly for Term 2, the Sustainability Captains shared some exciting news about a new student leadership initiative: the Regency Rangers.

This group is dedicated to promoting a clean and environmentally friendly school, with members proudly wearing a badge to recognise their commitment to keeping our school “clean and green.”

Each class from Year 1 to 6, will nominate one student through a process similar to selecting our SVT representatives, where students present a short speech to their own class and are voted in by their peers.

We are looking forward to working with students who take pride in maintaining a tidy school environment, encouraging others to do the right thing by putting rubbish in the bin.

Taste of Prep

As part of Education Week, we are excited to invite our prospective 2027 Prep students to join us for a “Taste of Prep” session. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the fun and engaging learning that takes place in our Prep classrooms, meet our teachers, and begin to feel comfortable in their new school environment.

The session will be held on Friday 22nd May from 9:15–10:00am. Families are warmly invited to join their child for the session, and children are encouraged to bring along a special teddy for some fun and games.

Families can register their child for the session here. We look forward to welcoming our future Prep students and their families to our school community! Insert flyer

Every child. Every opportunity.
With courage and commitment,

Allyson Kocaj
Principal

2027 Prep Enrolments

Do you have a child starting Prep in 2027? Please contact the school office to receive updates on the enrolment process and key dates. We look forward to welcoming your child to our school community.

We have some COMPASS changes commencing next week for easy and clear communication from the office.

Advice will now come to parents via a simple text message to your phone. The message will advise parents of any minor injury treated including minor head knocks with the student’s safe return to class.

For any major head knock or injury parents will be contacted directly via phone.

Will now come to parents from 9.30am. If your child is absent without your advice, you will receive a text message from the office for your reply.

Instructions for making your payment will be provided from the office via Compass with the step-by-step guide for use on your phone or computer.

Punctuality in consent & payments on COMPASS

Thank you to all of our families who have already paid their family contributions. Please see our Business Manager, if you would like to undertake a payment plan for upcoming school costs.
Please note payments for the majority of school events/excursions will be processed via COMPASS.

Throughout the year there are many payments to be made for excursions, camps and swimming. It is very important that these payments are paid by the due date.

All events that require permission and payment will need to be made by the due date if you wish your child to participate.

Only in very extreme circumstances will we be able to process payments after this date, even if the excursion has not yet happened.

Unfortunately, this means your child misses out on the event.

From experience I know that parents can be quite upset when this occurs, so I ask you to be aware of this process and ensure that consent and payments are made via COMPASS on time.

If you have trouble accessing COMPASS or completing payments, please see our office staff who can assist you with the process.

Eastern Regional Swimming Championships

We would like to congratulate Jayde, Liam and Amelia on their fantastic achievement in qualifying for and competing at the Easter Regional Swimming Carnival held at Aquanation on March 31. This is a wonderful accomplishment and a reflection of their dedication, perseverance and commitment to their training.

We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school, demonstrating great sportsmanship and effort throughout the day. All three students performed exceptionally well and should be very proud of their achievements.

A special congratulations to Amelia, who has qualified for the State Championships in the 11 Girls Multiclass Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke events, to be held on April 23. This is an outstanding accomplishment, and we wish her the very best as she competes at the next level.

State Swimming Championships

We would like to congratulate Amelia on her outstanding performance at the recent State Swimming Championships.

Competing in her multiclass events, Amelia demonstrated incredible determination, skill and composure against some of the best swimmers in the state.

Amelia achieved a fantastic set of results, placing 2nd in the 50m Backstroke, 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and 4th in the 50m Freestyle.

These are exceptional achievements at such a high level of competition and are a true reflection of her hard work and commitment.

We are extremely proud of Amelia and the way she represented our school, and we look forward to celebrating her continued success in the future.

Jump Rope for Heart Day

This year, our school has participated in Jump Rope for Heart. Students learnt and practiced various skipping activities as part of their PE program over Term 1 and had fun skipping together out in the yard at recess and lunch. Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraising program that raises money for the Heart Foundation and helps to keep our kids active.

Last Wednesday, we celebrated this program by holding a Jump Off Day. Our students raised money for the Heart Foundation and participated in various skipping activities for the afternoon. A big thanks goes to Mr Pearce for organising the activities and the Grade 6 leaders for helping to run the different skipping stations on the day.

It was a great success with the school raising over $900 for the foundation.

ANZAC Commemorations

On Wednesday the 22ndApril the school leaders and some of the teachers got the chance to go to an ANZAC Day ceremony at the Arboretum Park.

When we first got there, we saw a lot of schools and there was a high school choir singing the Australian national anthem and many other great songs.

We then got given an ANZAC badge and then we sat down to eat our snack and listened to some ANZAC stories from people from different backgrounds. When we finished listening to speeches, the school captains laid a wreath of flowers on a memorial statue.

Overall, it was a really fun experience which we were all grateful to go to!  – Jake B & Will D

Memories of Camp Weekaway

On the 30th of March to the 1st of April all of the Year 6 students went to Camp Weekaway in Benloch, Victoria.

At the camp there is a huge hallway with a big area in the middle as a common room which people can come together to play in. We found our cabins and the bathroom area. On the grounds, there is a white shed where you have afternoon tea, and a little bit to the right of it is the drink tap, dining room and kitchen. There is also a shed where we had a fun game quiz on the first night.

Outside for free time there is a gaga ball pit, a basketball ring, a volleyball net with soft sand and also some tables for you to sit at and eat with friends. For activities there were; flying fox, laser tag, canoeing, a maze, initiation challenges, hut building and damper cooking.

For the whole day you got three meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner, you also get 2 snacks which were morning and afternoon tea.

Overall, all of the kids, teachers and camp staff members had an amazing time together! It was SO much fun!  Thank you to all the staff and the parents who made this camp possibleVincent W & Jake L
